SNB’s Blog

UK Industrial Metal Detection Rental
5th January 2022 by Jess

Firstly, let us start this blog by wishing everyone a Happy New Year. We hope this years is prosperous for yourself and your business.

For those who don’t know us already, hello! We are SNB Electronic Services, we are an independent business that specialises in the food industry helping customers to purchase, rent and maintain their metal detectors, checkweighers and combination units on site. With three offices across the country (one in Yorkshire, another in Bedfordshire and a Scottish branch), we are able to offer rapid response times to all breakdowns, service calls and calibrations.

We are also able to offer our customers with rental units. This blog will look at the different rental units on offer to all customers and how we can help your production lines keep going.

Rental Metal Detectors

For the last 15 years, we have been working hard to provide customers with rental units in short lead times. When we first started out, we had around 20 stock units available for customers. Fast forward to present day, we now have over 200 metal detectors, checkweighers and combination units ready to be rented.

How Does It Work?

Renting a stock unit off ourselves could not be easier! To start the process, we will ask for details regarding the products that will be checked. This includes details such as length, height, width, weight, the products orientation and the type of packaging. This will all help determine what size metal detector head or weigh platform will be needed to get the best sensitivities/accuracies.

If you have any sample products that’s brilliant! You can send them to our Head Office in Sherburn In Elmet for our engineers to run trials to make sure we have a suitable unit that achieves the sensitivities / accuracies you’re looking for. Those that don’t have any sample products available, not to worry. We will not however be able to determine sensitivities beforehand.

After giving product details and or running tests on the sample products, one of the members from our sales team will send across the specifications of a suitable product. This will include the unit’s specification, the lead time and the price. If you are happy with the unit quoted, then all we ask is you send across a PO and from there we will draft up a rental agreement to be signed for both parties.

When everything has been completed, we will look to book an engineer in the diary to deliver, commission and calibrate the unit on site. On the day, the engineer will leave a manual, test sticks with a certificate and give operators basic training on how to use the unit.

Any unit can be off hired at any point as long as it has been past the minimum term period (minimum terms tend to start at 4 weeks).
